Nemanja Stanišić

Nemanja Stanišić je rođen 06.10.1981. u Beogradu, Srbija.

 

1. EDUCATION: He completed his undergraduate studies in Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Management at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance Management and Investment Banking from Lincoln University in Oakland, USA, with special recognition (cumulative GPA 3.93). His final master's thesis titled "The Financial Aspects of Corporate Growth" was written under the mentorship of Prof. Goranka Knežević, Ph.D., and he defended it in 2007. He also wrote his Ph.D. thesis in the field of Corporate Finance, entitled "The Concept of Shareholder Value and Possibilities of Application of the Associated Methodological Approaches in the Serbian Capital Market" under the mentorship of Prof. Zoran Jeremić, and defended it in 2010 at Singidunum University. He worked at the audit firm Stanisic Audit from 2000 to 2005, specializing in external audits and valuations. Since 2006, he has been employed at Singidunum University and has an excellent command of the English language.

 

2. ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES: He served as a Teaching Assistant for practical classes in the Accounting course. In 2010, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor and delivered lectures at the undergraduate level in the Valuation and Risk and Corporate Finance courses. In 2013, he was promoted to Associate Professor in Finance and Banking at Singidunum University, where he continues to deliver lectures at the undergraduate level in Corporate Finance and Financial Statement Analysis courses. He also teaches Master's courses such as Research Methodology for Social Sciences, Contemporary Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting, Business Decision Making, Contemporary Exchanges, and E-business, as well as Ph.D. level courses such as Contemporary Investing Theories, Contemporary Financing Theories, Fundamentals of Financial Engineering, and Financial Analysis. He was appointed as a full professor in 2016. During the academic year 2016/2017, he taught the Bachelor Seminar course as a lecturer in the joint study program of Singidunum University and the University of Krems in Austria, specifically in Tourism and Leisure Management. Additionally, he is a Visiting Professor at the International College of the National Institute of Development Administration (ICO NIDA) in Bangkok, Thailand. His teaching has consistently received high ratings in student evaluations, with a 98.3% positive response in the most recent evaluation. He co-authored three textbooks (Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, and Contemporary Exchanges and E-business) and three practicums (Practicum in Financial Accounting, Practicum in Cost Accounting, Practicum in Accounting Regulations). Moreover, he mentored students in the preparation of over 100 graduate theses, 57 master's theses (including 10 candidates from abroad), and 4 doctoral theses (including 3 candidates from abroad).

 

3. OTHER ACTIVITIES: He served as the Rector of Singidunum University from 2020-2021 and currently holds the position of Vice President. In the past, he held several administrative and management positions, including Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Business at Singidunum University from 2010-2011. He was also a member of the Senate and the Council of the Postgraduate Studies Department at Singidunum University and participated in many development projects there. Additionally, he was a member of the Managing Board at Jubmes bank from 2017 to 2019 and served as a consultant for the Project providing technical assistance to the Republic of Serbia in the reform of corporate financial reporting. He was also a member of the Supervisory Board at the National Association of Valuers of Serbia from 2014 to 2016 and engaged as a lecturer in courses for acquiring the title of Certified Practicing Valuer. He participates in the realization of seminars accredited by the Institute for the Advancement of Knowledge and Education for secondary school teachers entitled: "The Contemporary Approach to Education in the Fields of Economics, Finance and Accounting using Case Studies from the Domestic Economy." All seminars have received high ratings from participants in subsequent surveys. He has twice been a member of the jury for the "Start Young - Take the Lead" competition in solving case studies for secondary school students, organized by Ernst & Young. He is a co-author of the Handbook for the Application of the Chart of Accounts for Companies, Cooperatives and Entrepreneurs, published by the consulting firm IPC, which is widely used in national accounting practice. As part of his engagement in the TEMPUS project "Strengthening the Student Role in Governance and Management at the Universities of Serbia in line with the Bologna Process (SIGMUS)," he visited Middlesex University in London in 2013 with the task of exchanging experiences in the field of student involvement in the management of higher education institutions. In 2009 and 2010, he paid a working visit to Lincoln University in the United States to implement a joint research project.

 

4. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT He regularly attends seminars and workshops to enhance his professional and scientific knowledge. Some of the professional training courses he has completed include:

• Participation in paper presentation at the seminar Financial Openness and Financial Risk Control for Developing Countries, held at the Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing (2010).

• Certificate for the Manager as Coach and Mentor course, held at Stanford University, California (2010).

• Certificate for the Project Portfolio Management/Leadership course, held at Berkeley University, California (2010).


5. SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

The main areas of his research include Corporate Finance, Banking, Audit, and Applied Statistical Analysis. He has published several dozen scholarly articles (ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6543-1472). Of those articles, many were published in top journals such as Tourism Management (IF 10.125), Annals of Tourism Research (IF 9.635), Cornell Hospitality Quarterly (IF 2.436), The International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IF 2.892), Environmental Health (IF 4.986), Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health. Part A (IF 2.408), and many others. His scientific work has attracted the appropriate attention of the academic public (current number of citations on Google Scholar: 1017 https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=6ToeNbcAAAAJ&hl=en; the current number of citations on Scopus: 349 https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=55618174600&eid=2-s2.0-85042311272).

He served as the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal The Journal of Applied Economics. He has been involved as a reviewer, among others, by the following journals: Tourism Management (IF 10.125), Cornell Hospitality Quarterly (IF 2.436), International Journal of Hospitality Management (IF 6.361), The International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IF 2.892).

He is a member of the scientific and organizing committees of several international conferences.

Based on the obtained scientific research results, he meets the lecturer and mentor requirements for Ph.D. studies, in accordance with the Standard 9 criteria of the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (KAPK), and the conditions to be the principal investigator funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development.

He was the principal investigator of the project registered for the competition of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, entitled Improvement of Competitiveness of Domestic Companies on Domestic and International Capital Markets. He participated in the TEMPUS project Restructuring of Doctoral Studies in Serbia (RODOS). He was also involved in the TEMPUS project Strengthening the Student Role in Governance and Management at the Universities of Serbia in Line with the Bologna Process (SIGMUS).

Currently, he participates as a researcher in a project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia called TOURCOMSERBIA: Tourism destination competitiveness – evaluation model for Serbia.
