The doctoral study program in MODERN BUSINESS DECISION-MAKING in FINANCE AND BANKING, ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING, MARKETING, and HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT aims to develop scientific capabilities and academic skills, foster creative abilities, and master practical skills necessary for a successful career in managing complex systems within financial institutions, government, and other organizations.

Through theoretical and methodological instruction, students acquire scientific abilities and academic skills that they can use to enhance the financial market. Additionally, by familiarizing themselves with the results of scientific research projects and engaging in project work, they deepen their knowledge in the areas of FINANCE AND BANKING, ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING, MARKETING, and HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT.

The objectives of this study program are aligned with contemporary scientific achievements in the field of management, particularly in finance and banking, accounting and auditing, marketing, and human resources management, thus ensuring the necessary competencies for performing both theoretical and practical activities.

Year 1

The aim of this course is to make students conversant with the relevant quantitative methods used in management, operations research, econometrics and informatics. The students should also learn about statistical methods used for collecting and analyzing data and about optimization methods used for decision making process and problem solving. They should be able to apply quantitative methods using computer packages Excel and SPSS.

This research paper is a form of testing the candidate on the doctoral study level and is the first relevant verification statement from the mentor about the candidate. It is focused on projects that include practical problems and should finalize part of knowledge from previously covered courses. Through this research paper, we test the ability of the candidate to independently perform complex and detailed analysis of some problem.

PhD students should obtain knowledge regarding the contemporary theories and practice of finance, financial management, national and international banking and national and international financial markets.

Acquiring knowledge about the basic principles of business system based on the application of technologies in the digital environment, in accordance with the expected business needs and conditions of the global economy. Students are able to acquire knowledge from business concepts in digital environment, applications and technology. Students will be trained to independently implement and deploy modern business model services in a digital environment.

Research paper 2 aims to test PhD candidates and is the second relevant verification statement from the mentor about the candidate. This paper is focused on projects comprising practical problems and should finalize knowledge from previously covered courses. This paper testifies about the ability of the candidate to independently perform complex and thorough analysis of some issue.

The students should obtain knowledge and skills necessary for preparation and interpretation financial statements (reports); they should be familiar with the limitations of financial statements and modern forms of financial reporting.

The students should obtain knowledge in the field of finance, banking and financial markets, through examining the basic categories and principles of finance and banking

PhD students will gain knowledge of the models, concepts, tools, and techniques necessary for making strategic marketing decisions. The focus is on acquiring knowledge about modern concepts in market business and their application, both at the micro and macro level, with a special focus on aspects of choosing strategic alternatives for business growth and development, as well as the functioning of appropriate support systems.

Acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of organizational behavior (OB) within the context of human resource management (HRM), which contributes to the success of contemporary business from the aspects of the individual, group (team) and the organization system.

Students will be able to quantify corporate business performance by using contemporary performance measurement models; gain an understanding of value drivers such as innovation, corporate agility and human capital from accounting and analytical perspective.

Students will be able to collect and pre-process empirical data appropriate for tackling their research questions, choose a quantitative method that suites the goals of their research, implement the method using specialized statistical/econometrical software, present and correctly interpret the output obtained from the method, and acknowledge the method’s key limitations.

PhD students will acquire advanced knowledge in an interdisciplinary field that includes macro, interpretive and critical approaches and perspectives of studying consumer behaviour and consumer culture and be critically exposed to various theories and methods to stimulate the development of skills and abilities necessary to ask appropriate research questions, in order to understand the integrated effects of internal and external environmental factors on consumer behaviour and purchasing decisions. Also, PhD students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of creating value for consumers through critical analysis of factors and research into consumer behaviour and develop critical thinking to improve the knowledge needed to build and manage long-term customer relationships.

Acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of strategic human resource management (SHRM), from the point of view of concepts and best practices (strategies) used to improve organizational effectiveness.

Year 2

The students should become conversant with theories and strategies of investing in company shares

The objective of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge in the field of international economics, with special emphasis on current developments in international trade and international movements of capital. In addition to examining the basic concepts related to global economics and economic policies, the objective of the course is to familiarize students with the most important world economic systems, the functioning of international economic institutions, and the purpose and the tendency of regional economic integrations.

The goal of student activities within this research project is to obtain necessary experience through solving certain issues and tasks and recognize the possibilities for the application of previously obtained knowledge in practice. This research project is the continuation of the research paper from the second semester. The purpose of research is to check if the students can do some complex and thorough analysis of some problem on their own. This problem encompasses practical problems that should finalize part of knowledge from previously covered courses. The students apply basic, theoretical-methodological, scientific-technical and technical-applicative knowledge and methods to solving concrete issues within the chosen field. Within this research project, the student examines the problem, its structure and complexity and draws conclusions regarding the possible ways of solving it based on the conducted analyses. By examining the literature, the student becomes conversant with the methods that are intended for creative solving of new tasks and engineering practice for its solving.

PhD students should acquire knowledge in the field of accounting to support strategic business decision-making and critically evaluate performance measurement techniques aimed at enhancing the sustainability of value-creating activities within the organization.

The students should become conversant with quantitative techniques for the value assessment of financial instruments and with the methods for the value assessment based on probability. They should also learn about the most frequently used techniques for credit risk assessment and the models for assessing financial derivatives.

PhD students will be introduced to key issues and approaches in analytical marketing models, the benefits of these research flows and opportunities to expand them and master modern and advanced marketing models that are applied in the research process. PhD students will be able to critically identify and apply specific quantitative and/or qualitative research models depending on the marketing problem they are solving.

Acquiring professional knowledge in the field of organizational development (OD), through the conceptualization of the theory and practice of OD, as the carrier of organizational changes in contemporary business.

This course should enable PhD students to conduct scientific-research projects in the field of accounting and auditing and implement in practice scientific-research methodology independently or with the help of mentor

The students should become conversant with the main methodological postulates, specifics of social sciences epistemology, main logical research methods, methods and techniques for collecting, analyzing and explaining scientific work in finance, and applied economic sciences, and the structure of scientific research, that is, phases in the process of scientific research.

Acquiring practical knowledge and skills for the use of literature in the field of marketing, defining the problems and goals of the scientific and research project in the field of marketing and the appropriate scientific methodology that will be used for its solving. Introducing students to basic methodological postulates, basic logical methods of research, methods and techniques for collecting, analyzing, and exploring scientific work in social sciences, as well as the structure of scientific research and phases in the scientific research process.

The goal of this course is to acquire practical knowledge and skills in the use of literature, definition of research problems and goals, and the application of appropriate scientific methodology for solving them in the field of human resource management. To introduce doctoral students to the basic methodological postulates and logical research methods, as well as methods and techniques for collecting, analyzing, and explaining scientific work in the social sciences. To familiarize them with the structure and phases of the scientific research process.
