The accelerated development of technology at the global level has caused the inexorable industry's need for interdisciplinary staff. The Engineering Management Program offers a specialisation that enables the application of key engineering principles in a business environment, that is, the linking of technical knowledge with basic business and managerial skills. This program is implemented in Serbian and English language and enables the acquisition of advanced knowledge in the field of innovation management, quality management, project management, supply chain management and business decision making. Although management engineers often relate their careers to work in manufacturing, construction, ICT sector or logistics, there is almost no organisation in the private and public sector where there is no need for "technically aroused" managers.

I semestar

Students are introduced to the key activities in the research process in the fields of technical sciences: collecting, using and properly citing literary sources, defining research hypotheses, collecting, processing and analyzing data and making adequate conclusions. Also, students acquire the skills of effective written communication, argumentation of professional and scientific attitudes and the use of modern software solutions for the needs of research work.

Under this course, students will gain advanced knowledge of modern engineering developments, key competencies and capabilities in understanding the system approach in the design, execution and exploitation of complex systems - products or objects. They will be qualified to create products as systems, to apply complex system tools and techniques in the technical processes in which products are created, as well as in the management processes in which project realisation is coordinated.

Students acquire knowledge and skills in the field of intelligent systems based on neural network techniques, the phase of logic, evolutionary and genetic programming. They are familiarised with the architecture and rules of training neural networks, the phase of locking systems and principles of genetic and evolutionary methods of optimisation. Students also master the methods of combining computer intelligence methods in the synthesis of hybrid intelligent systems.

In the business world, integration is a keyword, and an integrated management system is the best approach for long-term customer satisfaction, profits and sustainable development of the organisation. The course objective is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of creation and implementation of standardized management systems. Aimed at achieving the key performance of the organisation and sustainable success. Students are familiarised with the requirements of individual standards and the possibilities of integrating them into a functional whole, students are referred to a wider management context that effectively links up all elements of the business system into a unique and comprehensive system.

This course aims to provide students with knowledge that would enable them to perceive human resources as the basis for achieving organizational success in knowledge economy, and human resource management as a strategic partner in an organization, which supports business strategy and achievement of business goals of an organization with all its activities. The students should become fully conversant with the concept and application of strategic human resource management, as well as methods and techniques of strategic human resources management that contribute to making timely and adequate managerial decisions.

As the application of science to the benefits of mankind, engineering solves a variety of practical problem by the application of knowledge, mathematics, and experience. It does so also by the creation, design and construction of usable objects, products or processes. The course aim is that students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of engineering design. Students will master the methodology of integrating different systems and be trained to use integrated systems in order to achieve the key performance of an organisation and achieve sustainable success.

II semestar

Customer satisfaction, competitiveness and commercial success are crucially linked to the quality function. Accordingly, the individuals who are able to understand and successfully apply the TQM philosophy represent the irreplaceable part of any organisation. Students will gain basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the concept, methodology and tools of the TQM approach. In addition to the fundamental TQM concept, special attention is paid to the principles of excellence models and standardized management systems to enable their successful application in the business environment based on TQM philosophy.

The students should learn more about the theory and practice of staff recruitment and development in modern business systems. The course covers strategic function of staff recruitment and development, learning concepts, motivation and performances, as well as five steps towards development of effective training programs in organizations.

The modern business environment is fast-paced, fuelled by turbulence, uncertainty and risk, and companies’ constant need t invest in research, development and innovative activities. The course objective is to help the student acquire theoretical and practical knowledge for managing innovations. As a multidisciplinary project, the innovations include a variety of activities that the company undertakes and encourages, which are the source for new products and services. The course familiarises students with national regulations and programmes in the field of innovation and patent systems. In addition, students will master methods and techniques for managing innovation, which are the most important for the development of a knowledge-based economy.

The student applies basic, theoretical methodological, scientific-professional and professional-applied knowledge and methods for solving concrete problems within the selected field of engineering management. During the progress of research work, the student studies the problem, its structure and complexity. The student proceeds to make conclusions on the possible ways of solving it and the creation of adequate decisions of the strategic and tactical and operational character. By studying professional literature, the student is acquainted with methods for solving similar tasks.

The goal of writing and defending the master’s thesis is for the student to, by processing and defending the research-based topic, demonstrate an independent and creative approach in the application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in problem solving and implementation of decisions in the life of organisations in the field of engineering management in production and other organisations.

  • The candidate takes six exams. The first project assignment integrates four courses from the first semester, whereas the second one combines two courses from the second semester.
  • During the course of studies, the candidates formulate their master’s thesis. Project assignments completed in the first and second semester can be integrated into the final master’s thesis.
